Steady in the Storm

A Practice for Uncertain Times

We've all experienced the feeling of groundlessness, when overwhelm makes you feel untethered and floating, or tight and gasping for air. The good news is that even when floating through the air of uncertainty, you can still find the ground within. When the going gets tough, here are some questions to support you in coming home to yourself:

1. Am I feeling groundless? If so, how and why?

2. Does it seem situational or particularly acute in this moment with all that I/we are contending with?

3. Where in my body am I experiencing this groundlessness? What physical sensations arise when I feel untethered? (Tightness, floating, heaviness, etc.)

4. How do I tend to act from these feelings?

5. When have I felt similarly untethered in the past, and what helped me find my center again? What resources or strengths did I draw upon?

6. Looking ahead, what is one small action I could take tomorrow that might help me feel more grounded and connected to myself?
